The Kothmann Ranch is a working cattle ranch owned by 5th generation Texans. It was founded by German settlers, one of which was the first sheriff of Mason County. Mason was the site of Fort Mason, a frontier army post that guarded the area from attacks by the Comanche and Apache Indians who lived in the area.

We are located 17 miles south of Mason and 25 miles north of Fredericksburg off Highway 87 in an area with the highest whitetail deer density in the world. Rolling hills are covered in live oak, white brush, persimmon and prickly pear. In the spring we are blessed with breathtaking bluebonnetss and various other species of wildflowers.

The deer herd has been managed under high fence for a number of years resulting in high quality trophy white tail deer.
